Bonzo saw the light of day in 2015 as the brainchild of Leuven-based singer-songwriter Thijs Boyen. In 2019, the puzzle was complete and Bonzo took on a different guise: Thijs gathered musicians around him, the DIY mentality of before disappeared and the debut album Always Holidays saw the light of day. With their first album, Bonzo made it to the stages of Trix, De Zwerver and Het Depot and their singles received national airplay.
Bonzo digs into the doubts of adult life on their second album Modest Life Advice (April 8, 2022). Beneath light-hearted guitar parts lie more serious themes such as alienation, trust and the feeling of being stuck. If the foursome still had one leg in adolescence on their debut album Always Holidays (2019), Modest Life Advice is the band’s coming of age.
The record is a humble handbook for life in your twenties, written by the Bonzo navigators in their early 30’s. The band dug through more than 250 (!) demos for their new record, written by the prolific singer-songwriter Thijs Boyen.
